Performance Research Sessions

An evolving experiment

Performance Research Sessions (PRS) was born out of my time as a fellow in the Target Margin Theater Institute in 2014 and was initiated by existential questions about theater and performance in a series called “Form & Function.” After that, I conducted several surveys in response to performances and digested that data in private explorations with collaborators Maia Karo and Sophie Thunberg.

It has evolved into a container for questions that nag at me and which I suspect have a resonance for others. PRS sessions are invitations to create solidarity around sites of loneliness, to experience community around things we often experience privately as individuals, to learn together through exchange and collaboration.

In 2019, I began developing a session around place, pulling on the strings of home, community, and colonization.

In 2023, I developed a session about boycotts and consumer choice making with collaborator. PRS: BCC was first hosted at the Kingston Public Library on April 15, 2023.
