PERFORMANCE RESEARCH SESSIONS: FORM & FUNCTION

What motivates makers and viewers to participate in performance pieces?  How can subjective data and nonverbal knowledge/understanding be collected and analyzed via performance?

SECOND TRIAL:  June 26, 2015 in response to SaLoN at Silent Barn:

FIRST TRIAL:  MAY 11 in response to Colors Project presented at Little Theater at Dixon Place:

Initiated as part of TMT Institute for Collaborative Theater Making

In the closing months of my fellowship with Target Margin Theater‘s Institute for Collaborative Theater Making, I am beginning the groundwork for a long term series of experiments about the form and function of “Performance”.  It is my aim to develop a method of inquiry that is specific, rigorous and simultaneously pushes the limits of our ability to transmit data, knowledge and understanding (i.e. communicate).

The first four sessions of research will begin by probing the big, interrelated areas of inquiry in order to refine the questions which will then be used to generate a series of experiments in 2015.  These sessions consist largely of surveys and discussions.  For more information about each session, or to take the survey, click below.
